Sprint Keeping Customers On Lock Down Even With $.20 SMS Fees
August 28th, 2007 | MobileLast October Sprint hiked up their SMS rates to $.15 as did all of the carriers. Now, about 10 months later they added another $.05 to their per SMS fees. Hopefully this is not a sign of another round of price raises across all carriers but the interesting twist; Sprint will not allow its subscribers to get out of their existing contract early due to this raise in SMS costs. So if you’re a Sprint subscriber either you’re going to have to suck it up and spend that extra $.05 per SMS or make the move to switch carriers and accept the early termination fee.
For a carrier that seems to be struggling against its competition (AT&T and Verizon) they sure don’t seem to want to draw in new customers or retain the existing subscribers. We all know the early termination fees can be daunting but will we see Sprint customers switch carriers? Are you a Sprint customer? Are you planning on making the move to another carrier?
