Firefox Plugin Aims To Eliminate Online Ads

I came across an article today that discusses a new plugin for Firefox that will essentially allow users to visit websites without viewing Flash, text-based or banner ads. This new plugin called, Adblock Plus will even block Google AdSense messages as well as a number of other sponsored messages. Many may think this would pose a threat to the industry’s key players such as Google but they have yet to show concern. When discussing a company like Google you would have to imagine they have planned ahead for this thus their lack of concern. Will Google and and the other key players in this space maintain silence or will they reveal their plans and continue to outsmart the world as some may say they have continued to do?

The specific features of Adblock Plus don’t currently support user controlled filters thus also blocking the ads a user may ultimately prefer viewing. It will be interesting to see how this affects agencies like ValueClick as well as others who utilize online ads to promote their brands/offers. Will we see a change in the agency approach to the online space? Maybe not yet but how do you feel this may affect the online ad space in the near future? I for one believe this may not create as much rumble as it initially seems. but we’ll soon see.

Just fyi, this plugin isn’t new… in fact it’s one of the oldest plugins for Firefox.

Yes that is correct, it actually didn’t specify that it was new I kind of read it that way for some reason. Thank you for calling that out as well.
