Wireless Wednesday: Blackberry 8830 World Edition

8830 2

I’ve recently purchased a Blackberry 8830 World Edition on the Verizon network. For those that know my “mobile ways” you probably know that I also own a Samsung BlackJack as well as an Apple iPhone. Basically, I love mobile phones. But the real story is that for my current employer it was recommended we carry two phones; one for email and one for calls. I originally liked this way of working for a while but it grew old quickly. Between my two work phones and one personal phone (an old Verizon flip phone) it was just too much.

Early on I had my verizon calls forwarded to my new work AT&T phone but now that I am soon moving on to a new company ( a post to come soon about this) I had to upgrade to a smartphone. After a number of friend recommendations and reviews I decided to go with the 8830. I made this choice not only because I love the Blackberry OS but because of its size (.55 inches thin) and weight (4.6 ounces). Although it may look big its extreme lightness is ideal for when in your pocket. Coming back to the Blackberry OS has been such a relief especially in regards to emails. I have two accounts programmed and its just and extremely easy to use interface. I am able to sync to my mac via Missing Sync and I’ve had absolutely no issues there.

Additionally, in the business sense I have been amazed at how clear conference calls can be even when utilizing the speakerphone, which has exceptional volume. The bluetooth capabilities are a big plus and I can connect to both my mac and bluetooth headset in a breeze. I highly recommend this device to anyone in the market for a new smartphone. I don’t think you’ll have any complaints unless you really want a camera or something of that nature. I really don’t find a camera on my phone that useful personally but everyone has their own preferences. If you have any questions just let me know and I would be glad to provide any additional advice.
