Wireless Wednesday: Sing Your Own Ringtones For The Holidays

October 24th, 2007 | Mobile

If you were looking for a funny unique gift for the holidays, a little treat for yourself or just a little something for your friends to remember you by, try making your own Singtone this holiday season. So you have heard of a ringtone and probably even a ringback tone (answer tones for those with AT&T) so you’re probably wondering what a singtone is. Well, imagine singing your favorite song and making it your ringtone or better yet, your friends ringtone…WAIT! WAIT! Yeah, you’re probably already saying, “so what, I’ve done that”. Well, I’ll wager a decent amount it probably sucked. No offense! Unfortunately, we are not all blessed with great voices and a sense of rhythm but that is where Singtones comes into play.

The Singtone service lets you record yourself singing a favorite song, enhances your voice and mixes it professionally with the backing track. Even if you’re tone-deaf, you’ll sound like a pro: in-tune and in-time. The system will also automatically score your voice, and you and your friends can listen to and rate each other’s performances.

A recent article announced that Singtones have prepared their Christmas songs for this holiday season. Need a stocking stuffer? This may not physically fill it but it sure could be fun to send to your friends and family to apply as the tone for when you call. Check out the bottom of Singtones home page for before and after samples.

To create your own Singtone just visit their website and follow the instruction in their 5 step guide. It’s fairly simple. Do note there are few factors that may limit you from this service. I’ve highlighted a few that may apply to you:

For those in the UK, will you record your own singtone track? What about when it’s available in the US? Would you send a singtone to a friend or family member?
