Top 5 Reasons To Switch To A Mac Now!
October 25th, 2007 | Apple, WorkflowYou can almost feel it! With Apple’s new Leopard operating system releasing this Friday mac users are anxiously awaiting this day. Many plan on upgrading to a new computer with new OS and many will just be upgrading their existing OS. What about those PC users that have secretly though about making the switch to Mac? It’s OK, PC users…really it’s OK! Admittance is the first step! Well, if you can still use some convincing as you’re still a little “unsure” of yourself and your current OS, check out the Top 5 Reasons To Switch To A Mac Right Now!
Top 5 Reasons To Switch To A Mac Right Now!
There are over 300+ new features to Apple’s new OS many of which are reasons enough to make the switch but one I would like to highlight is Time Machine. I believe the step of backing up your computer and its files is often overlooked. Then there is that one time that something happens and everything is just gone and you kick yourself for not taking care of this. Well, stop making up excuses. With Leopard, Time Machine makes backing up all of your files seamless. Think you’ll forget to do this on a regular basis ? No worries, just schedule how often you would like to back up your machine and let Time Machine take care of the rest!
2. Software:
So you may be afraid to abandon some of the applications that you use on a daily basis. No need to worry! With Mac’s most Windows applications are compatible and if not, why not just put Windows on to your Mac! Mac’s let you run your Windows OS, even the new Vista. Use the popular Parallels or VM Ware Fusion (my current choice) and run all the window apps your heart desires. So if loving Windows is your reason for not switching…give it up. Plus, Mac’s come with great applications already installed. Take care of your listening, audio editing, photo editing, video editing and other common tasks with apps like iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie. They even come with a great Address Book and Calendar to sync all your tasks and events.
3. iPod & iTunes:
iPods being the most popular MP3 player on the market and iTunes being one of the most used music applications to date means that not just Mac users are using these products. PC users all around choose iPods as their MP3 player of choice and keep their music library organized with iTunes. When you ask these users why they choose these products, most often you’ll find that its the simplicity and ease of use. Guess what? The Mac OS (especially Leopard) are exactly the same. The apps? The same! If you like the user interface/experience of these apps try enjoying that experience with every app you decide to use.
4. Security:
Mac’s have been touted as extremely secure. Its quite simple…Mac’s are not known to get viruses. Their unix based OS is extremely secure. No more blue screen of deaths or constant pop ups giving you warnings. Mac’s let you operate smoothly without that constant fear of getting a virus. This is NOT to say that Macs CAN’T get viruses because that is possible. At this point in time there has not been much reason to attack these machines.
5. Design:
This is almost self explanatory. I mean, look at them. They are by far the sleekest computers on the market. Clean and simple. This carries across their entire brand. Their advertising, promotions and packaging all contain the same look and feel. For the most part you’ll see this extended in some way shape or form to its users. They’ve practically developed a movement of individuals that have formed this Apple community. It continues to amaze me seeing the camaraderie among mac users. We are accepting resumes!
There you have it! The Top 5 Reasons To Switch To A Mac Now! I’ve watched many PC users switch to Mac’s since I converted back in college. Not one to this date has come back and regretted the decision. Two are even Apple IT Specialists now. Go figure! So when you go to pick up your new machine will you make it a Mac? Mac users, how many PC users have you converted?
Keep up the good work!

So what would you say if you heard that someone wanted to switch from a Mac to a PC? My sister wants to because “the world is PC based and Mac’s just won’t work as well as PC’s”. Love to hear your thoughts on this.

Mas,
I would first have your sister clarify what she means by “macs just don’t work well as PCs”. I would ask her what her intentions for using her computer are? What does she plan on doing with it that she feels a mac won’t suffice?
If her issue is windows I would have her check out the following sites discussing mac and windows interoperability. Also have her call me! We’ll get her through this!
