Glassbooth Makes Voting Easier For You
November 4th, 2007 | OnlineIn the last month or so a friend of mine has introduced me to glassbooth. An entrepreneurial effort he has been strongly involved with to help people find a presidential candidate that represents their beliefs best. When hearing the idea I was completely intrigued as I don’t consider myself a political person and often have trouble deciding whom I should be voting for. I also strongly believe that there are many others out there just like me that for one reason or another don’t’ do the research that is required to make the most educated personal decision and as a result may not even vote. Well, that is no longer an issue and should not be an excuse either because glassbooth.org can help you!
Glassbooth is a nonprofit organization that allows an individual to access tons of political information and serves it up exactly the way you need it based on questions you answer. So how exactly does it work?

First, you are asked to apply points to the issues that are most important to you. You’re provided with 20 points to allocate over a number of relevant issues today from Drugs, Iraq and Foreign Policy to Health Care and Education. This determines the types of questions you’ll be asked to answer in the upcoming survey.

Once you’ve allocated your 20 points based on your views and beliefs you’re presented with a number of questions. Again, these questions are served up based on the points you just allocated on the screen prior. Each question you’re asked to take a stand ranging from Strongly Oppose or Strongly Support with one choice of being in the middle. You can also skip a question as well.

After you’ve answered al the questions glassbooth will present you with how you compare to the available candidates with a percentage of similarity. The candidate with the highest percentage similarity is further defined in a brief paragraph below. Didn’t think you were aligned with that specific person? Well, glassbooth breaks down each issue and the similarity you share with the selected candidate and then even takes the next step and allows you to find out why they share similar views.

When clicking “find out why”, you’ll go back through each question that you’ve answered regarding that topic and you’re provided with your answers as well as the candidates answers. Need more backup? Continue reading to see how your selected candidate feels based on comments they’ve made to date and possibly even watch a video in which your selected candidate is supporting that issue.
Well, if you haven’t noticed based on the above screenshots I am apparently aligned with Joe Biden and Christopher Dodd the most with Barack Obama a close contender as well. Now, I need to go back and sift through some of the well presented data to further make my decision. Definitely try out this service here and see whom you are most likely to be aligned with politically. You may or may not be surprised. Either way, a service like this is much needed! There are thousands of people that never even vote due to their lack of knowledge. Most often that probably has nothing to do with their level of intent but just the time required to do the proper research to make the best personal decision. The data and facts to date are extremely overwhelming and glassbooth uses that same research and serves it up for you in a clean and creative way helping you make the right choice for you!
So let glassbooth help you and let me know how you feel about how it aligns you with your choice in presidential candidate. You can also stay up to date with their blog. If you’re feeling really generous contribute to the cause to the cause!

Greg, I found Glassbooth to be incredibly helpful in sorting out what seems to be way too many candidates to keep track of. In particular, I like how it first asks you what issues you care about so you don’t waste of lot of time answering questions that don’t matter to you (a big flaw in a similar site I tried years ago).
I passed this on to a friend of mine who is not politically inclined. She intuitively supports Hillary Clinton, but didn’t really know her stance on many issues. Glassbooth let her confirm that Hillary is a good match for her, and that their differences are matters of degree, not direction (Clinton being more moderate than my friend, but still in agreement).

I’m glad to hear it. It’s starting to get some good press as well. My friend who is directly involved has been throughly pleased with the sites success thus far!
Let your friends know!
