Since I’ve started toonice4TV.com many of my friends and family ask why I blog and how I have time for it. It’s interesting because every blogger obviously asks themselves the same question before they started their own blog or at least should have. There are so many different types of blogs on the web today covering endless amounts of topics, some full time businesses and others extremely personal. My personal journey into the blogosphere was for a number of reasons but I’ll point out the three that truly stand out to me and have come up in discussion when asked this very question: “Why do you blog?”

First, I would like to state that I currently see my blog as a hybrid between an information/tech blog and a personal blog to share my thoughts and photography. I do always try to incorporate technology in some way shape or form as it’s incorporated into my every day life. When I started toonice4TV I was a point in my life where I didn’t feel challenged with my full-time job and the work was kind of slow. I had always contemplated the thought of starting my own blog but never really had an idea on the topic of discussion.

Seeing as how I love technology and sharing my thoughts on news on it with my friends I felt it would only be appropriate to start something that I truly do care about. I also wanted to personalize it in some way thus incorporating my photography and “life” situations such as my post on my horrible move. For example, when discussing my photography I explain my camera settings when taking a specific shot while also allowing others to download it as a wallpaper for their own personal machine. Anyway, I’ll cut to the chase…Why I Blog?

1. It’s A Challenge: Coming up with fresh content on a regular basis is extremely difficult, especially when you’re reflecting on something that either happened in your life and or in the news. That coupled with the endless amount of self-marketing required and traffic building tactics makes it an everyday (almost everyday) challenge. I love thinking about what I may blog about next and how I can make it unique. I’m still developing my writing style and content and it will only get better, BUT the never ending challenge to do so and get people to my site while enjoying the content is why I’m doing this!

2. It’s Everyday Conversation: I obviously love technology and Apple products etc and some may call me a dork, I’d say a cool dork but thats me. My friends are also very tech savvy themselves thus things like a new OS (operating system), product or application or even an acquisition of a company in the technology space could be something we chat about during the day or over AIM. For those close friends that I don’t talk to or don’t have a chance to talk to during the day, I use my blog as a place to discuss those items so they can see what I’m thinking.

3. I’m Already Here: Ask anyone that knows me…I spend most of my free time when not at work on my Mac. Usually I’ll be downloading music, on AIM, in Photoshop, emailing, and obviously working on my blog but most importantly I find myself reading tons of other websites and blogs that I learn from. Whether its news, or tech-related or photography or design related or the occasional youtube or collegehumor visit for a laugh or two. I really only watch a few television shows and some sports and even then I may have my MacBook in front of me. With all this in mind the name toonice4TV came about and now the rest is history.

And why not a bonus reason!

It’s Fun: Everybody has their “little thing” that they enjoy doing. Whether it’s reading a book, drawing or writing in a journal or working out…we all do these things because we receive a certain level of satisfaction and enjoyment from them. Well, being on my computer, learning, taking pics with my camera are all things I enjoy and want to share because that satisfies me and I ultimately feel like I’m always “doing something” vs. sitting around “doing nothing”.
