Wireless Wednesday: Never Listen To Voicemail Again
January 2nd, 2008 | How-To, Mobile, Technology, WorkflowIf you’re like me and hate listening to voicemail you’re in luck! I’ve been using Mobile Visual Voicemail provided by CallWave for a few months now and I absolutely love it. For those of you not familiar with CallWave’s suite of products, you definitely need to check them out. They offer virtual fax, mobile visual voicemail, internet answering machine and a couple cool widgets for voicemail and text messaging. CallWave definitely lives up to their modo of “mobile communications without boundaries”. Their Mobile Visual Voicemail has truly changed the way I listen and handle my missed calls and voicemail.
First, the greatest part of Mobile Visual Voicemail is the Voice-to-Text Feature. Callwave’s service translates any voicemail left in your inbox and sends it to you in a SMS (text) message. This feature really gives you a quick idea of what the caller was aiming to discuss. Granted, depending on the person leaving the message, the speed at which they speak and any potential accents, the Voice-to-Text service does get confused sometimes. Although, I have been pretty impressed with how it has handled the voices of both my friends/family and even clients.
This feature is great if you’re in a room in which you can’t answer the phone. Whether it is too loud and you’re in a bar or just in a meeting, you’ll instantly know what your caller was trying to tell you. This feature also allows you to receive the message in an email to any address you provide.
I’ve downloaded the Mac ready widget which displays the number, date, time and allows you to play the message right there on your Mac computer. CallWaves service works with most of the major US carriers and many other nationwide wireless providers.

CallWave’s Visual Voicemail is seriously great if you’re not a fan of checking your voicemail. If you would like to download the widget, you can get it here! At least give it a try! It’s extremely easy to setup! Mac users, just download the widget and it provides a number for you to call to activate your service. At that point you will setup your voicemail message for all callers to hear. It’s really that simple!
So give it a whirl! Enjoy!
