My 3 New Years Resolutions

January 12th, 2008 | Personal, toonice4TV.com

As 2007 was coming to end you probably read or spoke about all of your resolutions you were planning on making in the new year. I personally always have trouble deciding on what my resolution is going to be and I often even have a tough time adhering to it. I think that may be because I sometimes expect too much. It’s not that I don’t want to “reach for the stars” but I think sometimes I bite off a little more than I can chew. So with that said here are my New Years Resolutions for 2008.

Write More

As of starting this blog in August in 2007 most of my writing has been done here at toonice4TV. I’m often reading up on the latest and greatest across the web and figuring out what to be writing on this blog. With devoting a lot of attention to this blog I have failed to keep up with my daily personal writing habits which most often consisted of free-writing and poetry. That daily exercise has always provided a great release for me both from personal and work related matters going on during my day to day activities. At the same time I also would like to devote more time to writing original posts here and writing them more often. Towards the end of the year with my new career move, it’s been a little difficult to dedicate as much time as I would ideally like.

With that said, my first New Years Resolution for 2008 is to write more, both on my blog, whether its tech news or some photos I have taken to my personal “journal” if you will where I get a lot of my thoughts down on paper and can creatively mold them into a poem of some sort. Regardless, my goal is to write more!

Spend Less

Post holidays I always try to do this but some how fail miserably. This year is different! Seriously! I plan on managing my money better. I use Quicken sometimes but want to get in the habit of using it more often. I also need to stop spending money on all my tech toys! The Dell 30″ set me back a little although I do love it! Now is the time to start paying off some credit card debt created from the wonderful holiday season!

Be Happy

Most will look at this and say “yeah, whatever, we all want to be happy, so what?”. I was actually one of those individuals as well and I attended a funeral recently in which I heard the brother of a friend speak about his relationship with his father and he made an interesting statement that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. He stated that we can all be happy. Being happy is a choice that we all have the ability to make for ourselves. We often let trivial things get in the way of our happiness and affect our mood, which then goes on to affect other things like work for example.

I have the choice to be happy. Just as you do! I for one am extremely fortunate for the life I’ve had so far. I have a great supporting family as well as friends, had a great education, a good career and can afford many luxuries in life. I think about how I get upset and depressed about certain little things that end up taking a toll on my overall outlook on life and my mood in general but in the grand scheme of things, they are tiny little issues that should not keep me from being ultimately happy. So in 2008 I like you should choose to be happier! It’s really that simple. Just think of all you’re thankful for, whatever that is for you. I think of all the things I just mentioned especially family and friends. Without them I seriously have no idea where I would be!

So moving forward, Don’t sweat the small stuff and it all becomes small stuff!
