Screenshots With Paparazzi
January 23rd, 2008 | How-To, Online, Technology, WorkflowI think people don’t understand the importance of a screenshot or realize how much they utilize them or can utilize them. Both as a blogger and an interactive marketer I find myself using screen shots very often. There are many products that allow you to capture screenshots. If you’re on a Mac, you may use Apple, Shift, 3 or Apple Shift, 4 for your selection box approach. Although I sometimes use both of those methods I’ve been looking for an application that lets me take screen shots of a full web page. You ever want a screenshot of a whole page but cannot accomplish this because your monitor is not big enough to view the whole page at once? Well, it’s happened to me and quite often (when I’m on my laptop of course, not my 30″ Dell). If you haven’t heard of Paparazzi for screenshots you need to check this out…
Paparazzi has an extremely simple user interface as seen below.

To capture the full page just go to the site you wish to capture (for example, toonice4TV.com). Copy and paste that URL into Paparazzi’s URL field. You can also select the minium size while also having the option to crop. Once that URL is in place and you selected both your size and cropping options hit “capture” and you’ll see the preview of your shot as seen below with toonice4TV.com

Just click “Save Image As” and you have a few options. You can obvioulsy choose the location at which this file is saved as well as the format. You can select from the following formats: PNG, TIFF, JPEG and PDF. Use the “Quality” slider to manage files size as well or utilize the thumbnail options.

Hit “Save” and you get your full page screen shot even if you couldn’t see the full screen on your monitor. Actual screen capture from Paparazzi displayed below:

For some reason my Skribit widget did not display which is interesting. I’ll have to look into this. Anyway, I take tons of screenshots for both my blog and working related matters. Thus far I’ve found Paparazzi to the be the best option when capturing a full web page although you may not be able to see it. For taking pictures of application windows I use the Screenshot Plus widget which is also extremely helpful! If you would like to try out Paparazzi download it here. For Screenshot Plus, download here!
