What’s In My Bag?
January 26th, 2008 | Apple, Personal, WorkflowAfter reading a post on paulstamatiou.com about the items carried in your everyday bag, I thought I would show what I happen to have in my bag everyday to and from work. I extremely love seeing what other mac setups people have as seen by my post, Awesome Mac Setups: A Tribute, so I thought this was an interesting approach to see how others work and live on an everyday basis. Like Paul, I too try to keep my bag as light and simple as possible.

Well, before I get to what’s in the bag, I should probably start with the bag itself. I’m currently using a North Face Recon backpack which has an internal pocket for a laptop. The laptop slot is a nice transition to my work laptop. What was recently a black MacBook, I’ve been luck enough to transition to a MacBook Pro. I bring this to and from work everyday as there are some nights I would like to compute from my couch rather than sitting at my desk on my MacPro.
The other items in my bag? Well, I often have my checkbook as I write checks for personal bills at work and mail them out from the office or on my way home. A Kennsington travel mouse with retractable cord is always in my bag just in case. I have an MX Revolution at home and at the office but the off chance I find myself at a Starbucks or some other location I always have an external mouse. I carry a tiny little notebook to jot down thoughts whether it be work related or for blog post ideas and sometimes even my other interest, poetry. I carry a couple of pens and pencils, some mints and these fun little magnets that are entertaining when stuck on a train or something. Finally, I usually throw a magazine in my bag should I have a few minutes to kill while on the job and not surfing the web. The magazine is usually Inc. or Fast Company as those are two of my favorites.
Well, like I said, I like to keep my back as light as possible thus not carrying too much. What do you carry in your bag on a daily basis? Whether you’re still in school or going to work what are your important items?
