Dell Customer Support, Better Than Expected

February 4th, 2008 | News, Technology, Workflow

If you’re a regular reader you may remember my decision to purchase the Dell 30″ monitor. Well, just after a few months I’m experiencing my first issue…dead pixels. Well, I was working the other day and I realized a random red pixel on my wallpaper. As I looked closer there were a bunch more. A few days passed and there are practically groups of 6-8 red pin point-sized dots all over my display. I was even just contemplating selling my 30″ to downsize a little bit and now this. Now I have to deal with Dell’s customer support, not one that people every look forward to. I do have to give them credit. They were extremely helpful and my experience was less time consuming than expected.

First lets look at the damage from our first viewpoint. You’ll notice the attractive line through the bottom. Not too sure what that is but you’ll see the dots in just a moment below.

Now, lets check out a closer view of some of these red pin-point dots. As I explained to Dell Technical Support, they were groups of pin-point dots (about 6-8 a group). As I looked carefully they actually repeated themselves in a column like manner all throughout my screen.

Well, after getting put on hold about 3 or 4 times and speaking a manager I was all set to receive a brand new Dell 30″ monitor. Yeah, that’s right, they are sending me a brand new one. After reviewing my issue description, I got directed to a manager whom apologized for my inconvenience and assured that the new monitor would be delivered in 5 or so business days.

So much to my dismay after completing dreading the fact that I needed to call Dell Technical Support, I was only on the phone for about 20 minutes or so and am being shipped a new monitor. I was completely pleased and happy with my experience so much that I even opted into taking the survey they try to get everyone to take post call. So if you’re dreading that Dell Customer Service my piece of advice would be ask for Kerry or Clint! :)
