CTIA 2008 Goes Green
March 9th, 2008 | Mobile, News, TechnologyIt’s official, CTIA Wireless 2008, the the largest wireless convention in the United States is going green. For those unfamiliar with the CTIA Convention, it boasts more than 1,100 exhibiting companies covering a dozen different industries with approximately 40,000 professional spanning 125 countries, all there aiming to revolutionize and grow the wireless marketplace. So how will CTIA contribute to the Go Green efffort?

Throughout the convention you’ll find mobile phone recycling stations (similar to the above) in which visitors can rid themselves of old phones and accessories. This is tied to the charitable Call To Protect Program which will benefit domestic violence organizations. Additionally, the original three part badge has been wisely reduced to one piece which will also be recyclable at the end of this years show. CTIA is a large convention. I had the opportunity to attend the Orlando show last year and there are a number of people attending that will be exposed to this effort which I think is a wonderful thing.
CTIA has actively engaged the Las Vegas Convention Center to assure that all other aspects of the show will be as “Green” as possible. All trash receptacles will be re-sorted after the show for paper, plastic, glass etc. So if you’re going to CTIA this or know somebody attending remind them to drop off any old mobile phones they may have. Better yet, ask around your workplace to collect some old devices and send them with your friend that is attending the show!
Are you supporting the Go Green efforts? How do you get your green on?
